Marty Stuart records “The Soldier’s Dream”

The final track of “The 1861 Project” is in the can.  Yesterday the great Marty Stuart came in to Thomm’s studio in Mt. Juliet to record “The Soldier’s Dream.”  A consummate professional, Marty killed the vocal on the first track – but would not rest until it was perfect.

    my great-grandfather fought for the Union when he was 14. When he was 11 he was defending his town against the Souix.  These songs get to the heart of the emotions of the way things were, and the way the people were effected. I feel like I’m at home remeniscing with realatives.  Thank You.

    Mr Marty Stuart.  I’ve been in your beloved Philadelpha on a number of occasions, with a cousin of yours by marriage (FD Stuart’s wife Lois)  I am a musician and have written lyrics for another “war song”  When my grandson came back from Iraq, I felt complled to write a song;  about his experiences over there’; however I have not been able to come up with a tune that suits me.  I need someone to steer me in the right direction of finding a song writer.  Thank you,  Jeaneen Taplin
